Caernarfon to Trefor
This was a great day and the walk from Caernarfon to Trefor is quite a good one. We started in Caernarfon. If you arrive by car from Bangor, as you enter Caernarfon pass Morrisons on your right and then turn right at the roundabout. This will take you to a decent sized car park where you can park for 12 hours for £ 5.
The walk through Caernarfon, past the small harbour and the castle, is beautiful. The views across to Anglesey are spectacular and the path follows the coast. Later the path deviates from the caost to turn towards Caernarfon airport.

Walking along the beach
Once you have walked past the airport you get a spectacular view – the sea – totally different from the Menai Starits. A large, deep, coloured, infinite sea. They are like chalk and cheese. This stretch is very exposed and it was windy. We found a sheltered bench on the promenade and ate our lunch at Dinas Dinlle.
After lunch at Dinas Dinlle we walked up the iron age hill fort. One third of this has been eaten by the sea but it is still very impressive.
Walking along the beach
Here the path was not clearly signed and we followed the footpath down to the beach. This was not the right route! Still, we carried on and walked along the beach. It was very empty and peaceful. The reason that the path does not go along the beach is that there are 2 river which need to be crossed. The first is not too big and we managed to wade through it. We have learnt from our friend Jez Manning that it is always a good ideas to take a towel with you!
Later on we realised that the next river was going to be far too wide and deep for us to ford so we took a detour through a camp site and made out way back up to the road and the official coastal path.
